-Equinoxes are when the sun is right over the equator. The sun's light hits symmetrical places of the earth with same intensity. Solstices are when the earth 's poles (north or south) are tipped farthest away from the sun. Equinoxes are in the fall and the spring and solstices are in the summer and the winter. I'm sure I was taught this before but I forgot.
